5 Stars My son loves it!
We were late getting into the Nintendo DS thing. I personally dislike video games. My son is a hockey player and when he found out there was such a game, he had to have it. Especially because it has a Martin Brodeur player. He loves this game. They first few hours he had it, he had already made it to the Stanley Cup. It would entertain him for days on end if I would let him, but I keep it to an hour maximum. He would rate it a AAA+

4 Stars Back Yard Hockey
My son, 6, loves the game. His age was not an issue understanding the game and most of it’s options. He has a great time with it.

I purchased this product as a gift for my grandson. If he isn’t playing it his little sister is. They both love it and it will bring countless hours of fun for both of them. The product was received in excellent condition and in a timely matter. I would order from this company anytime. Both the product and the seller receive excellent reviews.

NHL 07

NHL 07

NHL 07 is a revolution in hockey gaming. Its dual analog control revolutionizes how hockey video games are played. Organic goalie controls and advanced new features take your game further, for the kind of hockey you’ve always dreamed of playing.
Experience the most realistic sense of player control ever as you make every move?including shooting, deking, and checking?with the analog sticks. Make upper body stick-handling movements with one hand while controlling every glide and turn of the skates with the other. Take over a game with an enhanced control system. On offense protect the puck, pull off spins, and dictate the velocity of every shot during scoring opportunities, or take away scoring chances with bone-crushing body checks and aggressive pressure on defense. Utilize the skills of your finesse players to stick-handle through the zone, playmakers to set up scoring opportunities, and power forwards to use their body to drive past defenders. Or take advantage of the size, strength, and skill of your defensive defensemen to muscle and angle players off the puck. Players look and react more than ever like their real-life counterparts. See a sharpshooter’s stick flex on a blast to the net, a net minder look a puck into his glove on a big save, and how a goalie’s pads remain flush to the ice in and out of the butterfly. Sign and trade players, and negotiate contracts under the salary cap based on the new CBA. Once signed, it’s up to you to mold young players into the superstars of tomorrow while keeping the team’s overall confidence at its highest level. Dynasty with new CBA and Salary Cap Depth Feel Like a GM, without the micro-management New in-game announce team of Gary Thorne and Bill Clement

5 Stars this was very hard to find in a store
My son was very excited to get this, we had been looking for it for too long– prefect!

3 Stars Good game, missing key features
This game is a very good simulator for hockey. Gives you lots of control over players without making the game so complex that it turns you off (baseball game designers: pay attention). So, it’s a real good game to play from game-play and graphics perspective.

Where the game falls apart is with the goalie performance and in-game adjustments & stats. I’ll start with the goalies. They guy who gave it a one-star rating is on the right path, though he’s overblown the situation. It’s not that hard to pitch a shut-out, so to speak, and, conversely, it’s not impossible to score 10 goals. The problem is on how to do both. To shut out the opposing team, you need to limit them to no more than ~10 shots on goal for the game. To get 10 goals, you need to approach 50 shots.

At the end of the day, regardless of comparative goalie rankings, expect your team to shoot an aggregate of 16-20% and the opposing team to about than double that. Having played an entire season, I could discern no difference among goalies. Ratings meant nothing. So, yes, this aspect is frustrating. My average game was 7-2, and I would approach 40 shots on goal against around 6 for the computer.

Still, the most frustrating part to me was in-game adjustments. The computer could do things like change goalies and lines during the game. I never figured out how to do this — only between games. No end-of-game stats. The only posted stats are for the 3 stars of the game. This was the biggest irritation for me. I love checking stats during games and after the game ended. Can’t do that here.

A minor flaw was in the game’s ability to choose awards. My forward led the league in +/-, hits, SH goals, and takeaways, but he did NOT get the award for the best defensive forward. It was not uncommon for an opposing player with 0 points, 1 shot on goal to get 2nd star in a game where I had multiple 3+ point players. My goalie led the league with close to 20 shutouts, but not once earned a star for his effort. Several times, players from a team that was shut out would earn a star over my goalie who shut them out … or a player on my team with 2 goals + 2 assists.

Finally, everything in the game is from the 2006 season, which is getting pretty dated now.

EA should have spent more time refining the goalie system and in-game features and less time populating all of the weird global hockey leagues that most people wouldn’t miss. Frankly, EA could dump 50% of the features in this game, add better in-game support, and add more variability in the goalies, and the game would be 100% better.

4 Stars Very good game
I bought this game for my grandson and he plays it all the time. He plays little league hockey so he “knows it all”. Thank you for finding this game for him.

5 Stars Great Hockey Game
I have not been able to put this down sense purchasing it I highly recommend it to those of you who love hockey.

4 Stars NHL 07
I bought NHL 07 as there was no NHL 08. I bought this for my grandson. He played it on the airplane all the way to Florida and says he likes it really well and is still playing it alot. He says it is his favorite game for his PSP.
