4 Stars NOT a simpsons fan
I bought this game used as ive watched some simpsons over the years but i generally dont watch tv so i havnt seen most of the episodes and i havnt gotten around to purchasing the dvd yet.As for the game i really enjoyed it,it is rare that i put a game in and play it from begining to end without playing another game in between play sessions. this games has good graphics, good story, good humor and it was really enjoyable to play. the camera sucked sometime’s and thats about it.

5 Stars Great Present
This item arrived on time and was exactly what I ordered. I would order from this person again.

4 Stars A nice way to spend your time
There are a couple things I liked about this game. First is that it reminded me of the good old days of the Simpsons when it was still good. It was also very playable. Many of the levels are logic puzzles and that is a refreshing change from the generic shoot em’ups that have come out. Much was less complex than I would have liked but understandable since it is designed mainly for kids.

Overall it is worth the time and money

5 Stars Nice fun game
Great deal for the price. Great for simpsons fans. Best simpsons game I’ve played in a while.

4 Stars The simpsons ps3 game
I got this ps3 game for my 21st birthday and the game is fun but I agree with some of the other reviewers the game is way too short. Some playstation3 games take about a couple of days to beat this game only takes about a couple of hourse. other than that the graphics are pretty good not the best graphics but still pretty decent.

4 Stars Single Player Perspective
From the other reviews, it’s obvious that the real strength of this game lies in its multiplayer mode. Nonetheless, I bought it with the intention of playing it in a single player mode. For a stinkin’ $10 you get BF1942, plus the two expansion packs and BF Vietnam with the WWII mod. Not a bad value unless the game really sucks, which it most certainly does not.

It reminded me of Quake Wars, Enemy Territory. A large playing field with various spawn points and you get to be on one of two teams of bots. Admittedly, the bots aren’t all that smart. I found the bots in Quake III Arena to be infinitely smarter, although that could just be my memory playing tricks on me. I haven’t played Quake III in single player mode in ages.

Anyway, I played through the campaign mode and then through the instant maps of the expansion packs and enjoyed every one. I couldn’t fly the planes very well, so that was the least fun part of it. There’s a lot of variety in the weapons and a huge selection of different vehicles. This game is worth playing just for the tanks. They were nicely done and fairly realistic. Going over rough terrain, the tanks bounce up and down as you would expect a real tank to do.

This is an old game, so don’t expect much in the way of detailed graphics, but the game ran quite smooth without a single problem on my Vista x64 machine. I did have to configure the properties of the executable to run in administrator mode before it would save the selectable options, profiles, and game status. One nice thing about the Complete Collection is that you don’t have to download any patches for it. They are already in the game when you install it.

Being an old game, it didn’t have any wide screen (16×10) video modes and I was unable to get any of the manual edits on the config files (as suggested on the widescreengaming forums) to work. I didn’t find that to be a big downside, though. The picture was slightly distorted, but not enough to be an annoyance.

BF Vietnam has a slightly improved game engine making it a bit more modern, but still very similar. Seems like the HUD is slightly more refined than in the original game.

Overall, if you’re running out of FPS games and and have $10 burning a hole in your pocket, this is not a bad game. I played through the games and expansion in about two weeks and wasn’t bored. I may check out the online play which is where the game is most likely to shine. I still play Quake III on line and I would put this in a similar category, although with much larger open maps.

5 Stars Battlefield fan
Great game. Hours of fun. I have bought several copies for friends and have yet to have one to say they didn’t like the game.

5 Stars Battlefield 1942 Complete
I some how lost all my BF files and looked to Amazon for help. This is what I found. It has ALL the games I’ll ever need, in one box. And for $9.99, you can’t go wrong.

BF modern combat is good, but I like using the “old” weapons. And, there are still plenty of servers for you to play people from all over the world. And if you go to Cafe Press, you can get all the patches and new maps for a low monthly charge, then cancel.

4 Stars Great Game
Works well with Vista, some of the combo pack does not. Vietnam works, 1942 works, the other games (Secret weapons and Road to Rome) work at times.

1 Star Save Your Money
I can’t actually rate the game, because I never got to play the multi-player version. The single-player is OK–except while she was watching me play, my teenage daughter asked if all the soldiers walked like ducks: )

My first online play attempt ended with the message that my CD key was bad. I googled all the possible solutions, and tried them all. Even the EA KB article.

I emailed EA Support–they sent a link to the KB article–still did not work. I replied to their response that it still did not work. Two weeks later I got a survey about my customer support experience–which I rated as poor.

A week later I got a follow-up email apologizing, with the additional solution: Wait a few days, try it again. If it still doesn’t work, return the product.

At this point I’m writing it off as $20 lost. Get COD4 instead!

Left 4 Dead

May 22nd, 2009

Left 4 Dead

Set in a modern day survival-horror universe, the co-operative gameplay of Left 4 Dead (L4D) casts four “Survivors” in an epic struggle against hordes of swarming zombies and terrifying “Boss Infected” mutants. Developed by Turtle Rock Studios and Valve, creators of the Counter-Strike and Half-Life games, the latest AI technology allows for multiplayer games of one to eight players.

A new and highly virulent strain of the rabies virus emerges and spreads through the human population with frightening speed. The pandemic’s victims become grotesquely disfigured widely violent psychopaths, attacking the uninfected on sight. As one of the “lucky” few apparently immune to the sickness, you, unfortunately, are also trapped in a city crawling with thousands of the bloodthirsty Infected. Alone, you’re dead. But together with a handful of fellow survivors, you might just fight your way to safety.

Players can play as a Survivor or as one of four types of Boss Infected, each of whom possess a unique mutant ability, such as a 50-foot tongue lasso or a giant belly full of explosive methane gas. The gameplay of L4D is set across four massive campaigns. The zombie population of each mission is choreographed by an AI Director that monitors the human players’ actions and creates a unique and dramatic experience for them on the fly.

5 Stars I thought it would suck
Then I saw a video review…bought it and though after 1 play…that was too short …so i played it again..and again..and again and it jsut kept getting funner…..weird but true….of course you get the usually arseholes who care more about winning than fun…a lot of eliteists but hey thats in every game…now i can jibe at them over the mic….

4 Stars Great Arcade-ish Co-op; and Nothing Else
Before saying anything else, I feel obligated to point out that this game does have a single-player mode that can be enjoyed (the operative word: “endured” would be more like it) offline. Your allies will be three AI-controlled drones who don’t know how to toss grenades, and thankfully will not even pick them up. There isn’t even a pure LAN capability here. If you want to play with other people as Valve intended you to, you are going to have to be online and connected to the Steam console. Some people are picky about Steam, so be warned that this is a Steam game and there isn’t any way around it.

If that’s fine by you, then you are in for a treat. This is both a co-op game and a versus game, and both modes are spectacular. In co-op you play as one of four survivors attempting to escape the zombie apocalypse through one of four campaigns, each of which take between forty minutes and an hour and a half to beat, mostly depending on what problems you run into on the way. You will make your way through diverse settings to hitch a ride by helicopter, boat, armored car, or plane; but after twice through each campaign you’ll be seeing the same old things again and again, which is really the greatest limiting factor to this game: it is repetitive.

Valve pulls some tricks out to delay your boredom, but the presence of an AI “director” that randomizes creepy music cues, weapons and health placements, and enemy attacks is not enough to justify the game having so little to see and do. There are six guns and two bombs in the game, five types of “special infected” zombies in addition to the normal running types, and not much to change things up after the initial fun has worn off. Well, maybe there is: versus mode.

Once the vanilla co-op game has worn off, there’s the brutal versus mode. In this mode you still play as one of four human-controlled survivors huffing it out of town, but there are also four zombie players whose entire goal is to mess up your game. One team runs while the other hunts, and then you switch. At the end of the campaign, the team with the higher score wins. Not only is this far more frightening when you know that a scheming human mind is behind the actions that befall your rag-tag band, but it is also far more dynamic. Rather than just being attacked, you are being assaulted and picked off by the zombies. If there’s a flaw, it is that at the current time you can only play two of the campaigns in versus (though later this year Valve plans to change that).

This game is recommendable because it is the best co-op gameplay that you will ever experience, bar none. If you don’t mind learning the four campaigns really well and getting used to some nail-biting difficulty on later levels, then this game is for you.

5 Stars Just a good bit of fun
There’s not much to say about this game that hasn’t been said. It’s a great addition to anyone’s library. Take note though: to really experience this game, you gotta play it online and more preferably with people that you know. Single player is fun for a couple of times through, but playing with actual people makes for a much better experience.

Also, another good thing about getting this game is that it’s made by Valve. And Vavle supports their games long after they’ve been out. For instance, there is some new modes coming out real soon. Basically, you’ll get your money’s worth.

4 Stars The Dead are alive
This is a greaat game and very realistic. As for action, you can’t ask for more. Great graphics and the sound is awsome. Good game!

1 Star NO IDEA
Well, first off I read all the reviews and it sounds like a fun game so I decided to buy it. Now here’s my problem and it could be partly my fault for not researching more. Because this game requires internet activation I simply can’t play the game. I am currently stationed overseas and internet isn’t the greatest. Had I know this from the start I would never had wasted my money. I was looking for a good shooter to blow off some steam and was left scratching my head wondering why I spent the money for this. Not even in the product description did I see any mention of internet being required. I realize you need it for multiplayer, but you can’t play offline either…come on people. If I could give this a -5 rating I would just for the amount of disappointment I had.

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Cute dogs but . . . .
I bought this product for my daughter who loves dogs and loves Wii based on positive reviews from others. I was quite disappointed. It has very few activities (at least until you play for along time to unlock more) - and they are pretty boring - you can “pet” your dog, “dress” your dog, teach your dog tricks (supposedly) or race your dog. Petting is extremely boring, the dog tricks are really people tricks as you have to point at the screen with your Wii remote and guide a bone through a circle while the dog sits and watches. Racing may be fun in 2 player mode, but for single player there are no other dogs - your dog just runs himself (based on the player pumping the remote up and down). The dogs are VERY cute though and it is fun to name them - but that isn’t enough to make you want to play.

My daughter was home sick with nothing better to do and only wanted to play it for 10 minutes before asking to play her other Wii games instead. At my request she gave it more of a chance - but still after a short time was thoroughly bored and has not wanted to play it since that first day.

5 Stars Five Year Old LOVES IT!
We have tried basically every Wii game for my 5 year old and this is one of the top 10 for kids this little. With instructions given to her in the beginning she was able to take off and play on her own. Granted, theres not a lot to the game so I wouldnt recomment it for older kids, but its perfect for age groups 4-7! She really enjoy this game and unlike many games that weve tried and she gets frustrated with or is just not interested in, she likes this one.

4 Stars Easy and Fun to Play
We got this for our 7yo son who loves puppies, but our 9yo son took it completely over - along with DAD! Now, they race their puppies together, and that is fun for mom to watch. Up to 4 people/puppies can race at a time, and there are a variety of courses that get a bit more difficult each time. It’s friendly, uncomplicated competition. Plus, you can unlock outfits for the pups (you have to see a dog wearing a toucan nose to really appreciate it), choose new dogs -there are lots of breeds - train them, pet them, etc. I highly recommend it.

5 Stars Petz Sports Fun!
I got this for my 9 year old daughter who loves dogs but is a load of fun for the whole family. Great game!

5 Stars Fun Dog Game
This game is fun for kids and adults 4 and up. It is easy and fun to play. On singleplayer you get to adopt a dog(s) and pet him, teach him tricks, enter an agility course and win awards, dress him, play jumprope (which comes locked at first), and play catch (which also comes locked). My dad adopted a husky, my little brother adopted a German sheperd, and I adopted a pug. On multiplayer up to 3 friends can join your dog in an ajilitity course, but awards are not saved.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars No more family fun
I made a mistake. Having owned an earlier game in EA’s NASCAR series for the PS2, I bought NASCAR 09 for my son’s new Xbox360 without looking at the box and learning that it’s a 1-Player game.

You see, we used to have a lot of fun racing against each other. But, in this iteration, that’s not possible. You can race strangers on-line, but you can’t race a member of your own family in the living room?

For what it is, it’s okay. The graphics are much prettier than I’m used to, and the driving is more difficult than in the older version. I like the new view that puts you in the cockpit of the car looking at the driver’s hands on the steering wheel - the most realistic of the views but hard to use.

It’s a decent simulation, but I miss a two-player mode.

2 Stars The Create a Car feature ALMOST saves this one
It seems that EA can never get it right with their games, and probably never will as long as they hold the exclusive license to America’s top motorsport (thankfully, they no longer have their greedy mitts on the F1 license, now posessed by Codemasters). This year, they seemed to be too lazy…or too tight wadded to acquire car licenses…so they added the create a car feature, making the players make the cars the way they should’ve been made in the first place.

Now…this feature is good and all…but its about the only good thing in the entire game. Car handling is still far from perfected, even with the inclusion of two different racing styles. The AI are still dumb as rocks, and will give you little to no room, and are almost impossible to work with at tracks where working together is a necessity (i.e. drafting at Daytona…which is a joke in this years game).

Most of the bugs online have been fixed, but EA decided rather than hosting all the custom paintschemes so that all playes could see each others cars, you must be a friend of a player to see his/her customized ride. Major bummer.

My suggestion: if you LOVE NASCAR, and absolutely positively need the most up to date edition, go for it. However, if you are just looking for a fun racing game, I suggest you look elsewhere (Grid and Burnout, while they are arcade racers, are a heck of a lot of fun online).

3 Stars Fun but very bugy
The game play is much improved over last year. The 09 version has many more driver assists, so a new player can start racing without continuously crashing into walls and other cars. So this year I’m actually enjoying playing the game. I like the racing in close quarters with other cars, which you don’t get to do in most other racing games.

I’m only giving 3 stars because the game has a ridiculous amount of bugs in the career mode. It will say that I haven’t met my sponser’s goals, and then immediately it will say that I have. I’m continouosly having to go to the paint shop to redo my cars because the game doesn’t think I have the right one. It says I can load a car from disk in the paint shop, but no. There are save options, but no load. The game will often lose my paint selection, giving me the awesome gray on gray look. Again forcing me to go back to the paint shop.

Nice attempt EA. Maybe next time you should try doing some testing though.

2 Stars NASCAR - bite me
First - I love racing games. I love all kinds of racing games. But NASCAR has been a terrible game since it first came out years ago. Now here we are with NASCAR 09 and the graphic engine is horrid. I thought I was playing Pong. It was sad. But the graphics for the real NASCAR driver (Jeff Gordon I think) shown in the garage ever ten seconds is almost life like.

Really EA. That is the best you could do? The racing is not bad, it is fairly realistic. The game is hard to move around in though and there is not a lot of intuitive steps for a non-NASCAR person.

WOW, I can’t wait for NASCAR 10 so I can waste another $20.

3 Stars Nascar Fan
This game will give you an all new respect for the real drivers. This is not a game for the average driver. Even the beginner setting are to much for me. I have both the 08 and 09 games and I do like the lay out of the game and the caracteristics of the 08 game just a little better.
