Assassins Creed

The setting is 1191 AD. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You, Altair, intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. • Eliminate your targets wherever, whenever, and however. Stalk your prey through detailed and historically accurate environments. Scale buildings, mount horses, blend in with crowds
  • This game immerses you in the Holy Land of the 12th century, featuring life-like graphics, ambiance, and the detail of a living world

1 Star Repetitive.
Pros: Good graphics

Cons: Everything else. Poor controls, VERY repetitive, there are only 2 or 3 things you do in the whole game (climb buildings, kill soldiers, and then climb more buildings), long boring cutscenes that you can’t fast forward through, and the worst voice acting I think I’ve ever heard.

5 Stars A Creed Worth Living By
Portrayed to me as a tedious romp through the Middle Ages in the guise of some odd combination of shadowy intrigue and conspiracy, Assassin’s Creed didn’t raise my hopes for what I saw as a flagging Action-Adventure genre. A mere 2 hours after popping in the disc however, I nearly threw my controller to the ceiling in pure gaming bliss.

Perhaps it’s the spit-shined presentation, or maybe the incredible scale of the game - not to mention the buildings within - or even the sublime animation with which Altair moves throughout the world; but I have still yet to find such an enthralling experience in any other game so far.

The storyline, originally the first “hook” for me into the game, eventually sinks into a predictable mediocrity of philosophic squabble, yet by the end it doesn’t particularly matter. Endless men lose their lives at your hand, guided under the careful ever-watching gaze of Al-Mualim; every kill bringing a far-too-soon desensitized `revelation’ to light about the happenings around Altair. While intriguing at first, the yarn seems to drag itself out too thin, ending with a tired clich?d twist. As I see it being the weakest link of sorts, I still can’t say that it’s truly horrible. As with every twist and turn, I attempted to retain that ever-so-elusive suspense of belief, becoming just as enraptured in the plot and happenings as Altair and his `modern-day’ counterpart. Oh, didn’t mention that yet? Probably the only twist that matters, but I’ll say right now that Assassin’s Creed takes place solidly in the future.

The presentation is one of Assassin’s Creed’s most pivotal facets, and one that is not soon easily forgotten. From the haunting choruses of the chapels of Acre and Jerusalem, to the sublime Middle Eastern flair of Damascus and the Kingdom, no detail lays unturned and unadorned. With the fantastic musical score providing an ample background, Assassin’s Creed’s graphics do not disappoint in any way. Of particular note is the animation. Every grasp of stone, blast of wind and heart-piercing stab are accentuated to a degree that I’ve never before seen in gaming. A heart pounding pace and fluidity perfectly emphasizes that you are, in fact, a highly trained assassin; fully befitting of your skill as portrayed in game.

Gameplay is deceptively simple, with each content segment divided up into different mission blocks that introduce a new and critical part of the story. Divided into three distinct segments - information gathering, the kill, and the escape - each assassination opens up a new part of the cit(ies) in which the missions are based; forcing a “carrot on a stick” stigma onto the player, yet all for the better. If the content were delivered to you all at once, a la GTA, Assassin’s Creed would be far too massive of an endeavor the normal gamer.

In the end, only one truly irks me about Assassin’s Creed: you can’t swim.

4 Stars Great game…Horrible ending
Assassin’s Creed is a Great game. The graphics are amazing and the controls are easy to handle. The fighting scenes are intense and bloody. The only thing wrong with this game is the ending it left so many questions unanswered. Anyways, Assassin’s Creed overall is a pretty good game. A great time waster.

1 Star Like being sadistically tortured
…but hey, being sadistically tortured is more fun than this waste of plastic.

PROS:

-Good Graphics

-Jumping from high buildings is fun

CONS:

Everything else.

This game is the most repetitive and completely pointless game ever. Pretty much all you do is climb buildings and kill people. That’s it. There’s some good gore in the game and good graphics, both of which do not a game make.

The plot on the other hand is a complete ripoff of The Matrix, just with the “other world” being Ancient times. The voice acting is absolutely terrible and some of the characterization is terrible to.

Just rent this game, don’t buy it.

4 Stars Must buy, but there are frustations
I loved this game, but you’ll surely have to read online walkthroughs. In particular, you have to make uses of maps and tools that the game doesn’t explain. Even after you think you know how to play the game, you’ll find yourself not knowing what to do in the game. Jumping to the poles was a frustation on the ocean because the character dies and you don’t know whether he’ll make it to the pole. On the positive side, the game has beautiful HD graphics (except some characters) and is adult oriented rather than for children.

4 Stars NOT a simpsons fan
I bought this game used as ive watched some simpsons over the years but i generally dont watch tv so i havnt seen most of the episodes and i havnt gotten around to purchasing the dvd yet.As for the game i really enjoyed it,it is rare that i put a game in and play it from begining to end without playing another game in between play sessions. this games has good graphics, good story, good humor and it was really enjoyable to play. the camera sucked sometime’s and thats about it.

5 Stars Great Present
This item arrived on time and was exactly what I ordered. I would order from this person again.

4 Stars A nice way to spend your time
There are a couple things I liked about this game. First is that it reminded me of the good old days of the Simpsons when it was still good. It was also very playable. Many of the levels are logic puzzles and that is a refreshing change from the generic shoot em’ups that have come out. Much was less complex than I would have liked but understandable since it is designed mainly for kids.

Overall it is worth the time and money

5 Stars Nice fun game
Great deal for the price. Great for simpsons fans. Best simpsons game I’ve played in a while.

4 Stars The simpsons ps3 game
I got this ps3 game for my 21st birthday and the game is fun but I agree with some of the other reviewers the game is way too short. Some playstation3 games take about a couple of days to beat this game only takes about a couple of hourse. other than that the graphics are pretty good not the best graphics but still pretty decent.

4 Stars SO much fun!
This is the perfect game for the little princess in your life! It is easy enough for little ones to enjoy, but challenging enough so its not boring! Great graphics, many different scenes and all the favorite disney characters!

5 Stars Nice calm girly game!
Bought this for my 4 year old niece. She loves the princesses. Good graphics. A calm Wii game, not too much jumping up and down.

4 Stars Very nice game
My 4 year old daughter love this game….though she was a little afraid of the bogs at first. After a while, she learned how to beat them and was no longer afraid. My 5.5 year old plays along and helps his sister and they enjoy it. It’s a nice game and helps to create a team effort. The goals are not that difficult, and some “levels” are harder than others, but the players are told which ones are easier and which ones are more difficult. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the final level was dissapointing. Otherwise, I do recommend this game…..for the ages I mentioned. I think children over 7 or 8 may not like it.

3 Stars Good game for girls
I got this game for my nieces and they loved it. It’s definitely a girl’s game. It’s not too difficult or complicated.

5 Stars Perfect for my 5-year old
This is my first ever review of a product on Amazon, or anything for that nature. My daughter, whom is 5, absolutely loves this game. A quick background - my daughter, up until now, has never played a video game or computer game. She is more of an artsy type, enjoying coloring & painting. She is your typical 5-yr old with Polly’s & Barbies - and she dreams of being a princess!

In comes this game - perfect for her. Using the Wii, she goes from section to section playing the game. Sometimes I help her with the missions, but for the most part, it’s better to let her do it on her own. Also, every time she plays, she has the chance to change the outfit her soon-to-be-princess is wearing. I think there is 4 princesses to help in the game. Each princess has 3 levels. I think Ariel was the easist of the 4. Basically each princess section creates harder missions to accomplish. However, I don’t think that is an accurate way of looking at it - sure, you have more to accomplish in harder sections, but it doesn’t take away the fun and my daughter, whom has never played a video game, does it on her own. Like I said, you may need to help out here and there, but for the most part, it’s an independent game.

Lastly, she loves Belle - I think you have to help the other 4 princesses and then you get a chance to help out Belle. So she is excited about completing each one, as it gets her one step closer to helping Belle.

Hope the review helps!

5 Stars This is my boys all time favorite game
This is my oldest 2 sons favorite game. They are 5 and 8. We have over 20 games, but they play this one everyday. (This and Super Smash Bros Brawl).

4 Stars My 4 & 6 year old love it!
We did research on this game, and found many “professional” gamers dislike for the simplicity. Let me tell you that for $[...] this game is a steal. My two boys play it all the time, and jump around while steering their skateboard, and trying tricks that no human could ever pull off or survive from. Some of the background music choices aren’t my favorites by any stretch of the imagination, but if you can get over that then this game is great for young gamers. Toys R Us was selling this game for $[...] this past fall.

5 Stars well worth the price
Granted I got this during a gold deal…but it is a great game even at regular price. Good graphics. It was a little tricky to master at first, as there are a number of special moves you have to do to get lots of points. However once you learn them it is fantastic. Highly recommended!

5 Stars Electrifying
I bought this game for my grandson’s birthday. He is crazy about it. My grandson is 4 yrs old.

5 Stars Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam
My 11th year old son received the Wii version for his birthday. He is totally hooked on it. Money well spent.

Super Mario Kart

May 11th, 2009

Super Mario Kart

The first Go-Kart Racing game to come out for the SNES. Featuring all of the Super Mario bunch like Mario, Luigi, King Koopa, Toadstool, and the almost forgotten Donkey Kong Jr. Collect many power ups like mushrooms to speed you up; throw Koopa shells or banana peels at your opponent’s to slow them down, plus many more items. The Battle mode is an excellent two player game, use the split screen view to watch both players battle it out. Super Mario Kart is fun and exciting addition to family of Mario games.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Without a doubt…
One of the best overall video games of all time! I grew up in the era or NES, SNES, Genisis, etc. I played a lot game back then and this is one I still play. Friends of the family will come over and we will hold tournements on this game playing the ever-great battle mode. I swear this game never gets old. Well worth getting.

5 Stars Classic
This is still the best version of Mario Kart out there. It has some of the best maps, music, and it doesn’t try anything fancy like some of the newer Mario Karts. You really can’t go wrong with this game. Everyone should be able to appreciate this game, whether you enjoy racing games or not.

5 Stars Great Nostalgic SNES fun
Great quality game, which is hard to come by since these have been around since the early 90’s. I would recommend GeeksEtc to anyone if you’re looking for any older system games.

3 Stars Get set. GO
This game is fun to play. I prefer the version that N64 has out though.

4 Stars Not like I remembered but still fun
I guess I’ve just been spoiled with all the good graphics out there today. This game looks like pixelated garbage. It’s still fun, but gives me a headache after ten minutes. Also, no reverse? WTF??? I hate bouncing off of walls to turn around!
