4 Stars Great Game
I originally purchased this for my 9 year old grandaughter, but it was a little to much for her. I started playing it and was surprised at how challenging and entertaining it was. Her loss my gain.

5 Stars Great Game
This is a fun game! It’s not too hard if you upgrade all your weapons! So upgrade, upgrade, upgrade!

4 Stars One of the Best Games You Can Get On PS3
When I first bought my PS3, this game caught my eye, but not enough to buy. I noticed it on sale about a year later and bought it. Wish I had gotten it sooner. This game is highly addicting and enjoyable. The characters and story are a lot of fun. The controls were easy to get a hang of. There are enough gadgets and guns to keep you occupied for a good long time. I am looking forward to the next “Ratchet and Clank” game. I had a few minor squabbles. The story didn’t really seem to move forward, and ultimately left you with more questions. I was disappointed in how little was revealed in the end. I also ran into some glitches that got me killed a few times. Barring all that, Ratchet and Clank makes it on my top 5 PS3 games list.

5 Stars must own
this is a great game for all ages. i must own if you have a playstation 3.

5 Stars 5 star
This has to be the best platformer around! It improves on everything since Ratchet and Clank 3. The graphic are amazing as is the gameplay. It also makes good use of the Sixaxis controler.

The gameplay is similar to the other Ratchet and Clank games (apart from Gladiator) and fans will instantly feel at home. The environments are very impressive as are the weapons and gadgets!

Children and adults will enjoy.

5 Stars Awesomely entertaining
Awesome shoot em up co-op. Great filler for after World at war while you await the new Halo.

3 Stars I could have saved some cash, but….
In all honesty, this game wasn’t AS bad as some of the One star reviews make it out to be.

Just to start, some people bash on the long load times. It’s a next gen game guys, there’s a ton to load. Allthough I wouldn’t mind some of that being done in the background or during cutscenes.

The graphics are more then decent. I only ran across a few barrier glitches myself.

Gameplay is fun, but it doesb’t deserve the hype EA and gamesites gave it. It’s fun, but has it’s repitions, like all games do. Seems to me people are expecting something new every level, which just isn’t practical unless you wanted to spend far more on video games. Imagine putting a new engine in your car everyday so it felt like you were driving something different.

The AI falls just farther then putting a controller in the hands of a devolpementally challenged chimp though. Your partner just doesn’t think right. If you happen to fall there are times he’ll drag you straight though gunfire and try to heal you while your both gettig turned into a statue from the inside out.

The audio is great though, weapons sound different, explosions are in your face, it really was done well.

The storyline is good, not great. You can see the big plot twist from a mile away, but it doesn’t take away the impact it has. What really caught my ears was the friendly banter between our two protagonists. Watching one trip another through a doorway in a cutscene, or some friendly high fiving and air guitars did make me laugh some.

I am yet to try this with some actual people. Go fig I’m a loser, thinking highschool had me pegged. But I’m not thinking I’m missing much. Online matching isn’t that fun, unless you like being a merc. Everyone just runs around like headless weenies, which causes death and loses money.

All in all, not a horrible game, no real replay value. But why complain when I got it for less than 30 bucks. Fun play, but it’s gonna collect some dust untill the next time I get drunk and dont wana embarass myself on COD4

4 Stars Better than Gears of War
My brother and I played this a lot and we both like playing it better than the original Gears or War. It is more realistic and the aggro component to the game is what makes it great. You also get to customize your weapons for power, accuracy and other things, which is necessary if you play on the higher difficulties. The controls play much like Gears of War with a strong emphasis on taking cover. The cover mechanics work well enough but without having a specific button to activate cover, you may often find yourself being furiously shot at and struggling to get your character to hide behind a wall or barricade. The sounds of the game really shine as each gun has a distinct and accurate sound. The voice acting portrays what you would expect from a game titled Army of Two and the language hits hard with many vulgarities during in-game combat and CGI cutscenes. Above all, the online support for multiplayer team play and 2 player co-op really make this game special. Besides Gears of War and Halo 3, there are no other games that put such a key emphasis on online teamwork.

There are some cons to this game. The melee controls are terrible. Sometimes you can walk right up to a guy while pressing melee attack and he will almost always get you first on harder difficulty levels. Also, when you are tracking an enemy to shoot and he starts to run, your reticle can barely keep up to shoot him. There are other annoyances, but overall you will enjoy this game. Local or Xbox Live gives the game longevity.

4 Stars Army of Two by pb
As is to be expected EA Games delivers the goods with a solid game that actually has decent AI for the secondary character. The Language is absurd but the graphics are excellent and the gameplay is well conceived. The whole conspiracy theory storyline is a little farfetched but that’s the beauty of Games THEIR NOT REAL.

5 Stars Mr.
I really enjoy this game. I can’t wait for the next one. The graphics are awesome.

NBA 2K9

May 14th, 2009

NBA 2K9

The NBA franchise is back for its 10th season. NBA 2K9 is the premier basketball game for serious players, and delivers the most realistic, stylistic, and feature-rich simulation experience ever available in the NBA 2K franchise - from game play to graphics, presentation and online features.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great Game
This is the first time i have gotten nba 2k series.

and im not dissapointed at all. the graphics are ok but they are at least WAY better than nba live. online play is pretty good but my only problem is i cant use the up-to-date roster on quickplay. i can only use em for online. im probably doing something wrong though due to recent addition

3 Stars new additions but same problems
NBA 2k9 is probably going to be the last nba 2k game there is going to be for ps2 and they sure gave it their last effort in making this game great. first with the newly added hot zones, it makes the gameplay more realistic with knowing where a person is hot and not. Next, along with that, in the 4th quarter, those players that care clutch (like kobe and lebron), their hot shot bar increases meaning they make more shots in clutch which is extremely impressive. even better, when a player is on fire, their bar goes into RED which means they make every single shot that they shoot which is AWESOME. another pro of this game is that association 2.0 is pretty cool with [...]interface. there’s player of the week, and headline news. you now have 4 scouts and there is training camp as well. the cons of this game: the glitches from 2k8 are sitll there.. many missed layups, dunks from the free throw line from everyone…and the association still doesn’t let new rookies score over 10 points per game for some reason. Overall if you thought nba 2k8 was fun, u’ll love 2k9 because its exactly hte same PLUS even better. for me, i was hoping the glitches were fixed so this game is fun but it could’ve been a better ending

4 Stars Good game
Decent video game. Very fun. Graphics are fine and players performance is accurate. I like Harlan commentating.

4 Stars Above the rim?
I was a big fan of the NBA live series, in fact that’s all I played in the past. I decided to try out the 2K series and I have not been disappointed. I can’t compare this game to previous installments since this is my first time but so far I’m having a ball. The gameplay is fast and exciting, the players look exactly like their counterparts and the music/sound effects adds to the addictive nature of this game.

On the downside, I can’t seem to be able to save a season or the association mode. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. In addition, its way to easy to pull off dunks from anywhere around the post. Attaining baskets and fouls is very easy as well, which shows that this game cators to the offensive oriented. Players miss uncontested layups which just hit the bottom of the iron, that can be quite frustrating. I’ve yet to figure out how to use the dual player feature, due to my recent induction of the franchise. The manual which comes with the game sucks as well, its useless, I guess 2k sports are catoring only to experienced 2K players.

With all that said, the game is highly addictive and lots of fun especially when playing with frineds. I definitely recommend this one, perhaps the last for the beloved PS2.

5 Stars great fun!!!
Great game, I love the game of basketball and this game is just like the real thing…

2 Stars It’s good but…
My cousin received this game for christmas, and I ended up playing it when he wasn’t. First off, I’d like to say that at first, I thought this was a pretty good racing game. The cars are easy to control, and the layout is pretty straightforward.

However, there are several issues I have with this game.

First of all, I was disappointed to learn that it was the same tracks that were used throughout the game. There’s about 12 of them, but there are a total of about 120 races required to ‘beat’ the game. What does this mean? It means that each of these tracks is used several times. This can get tedious, and even a little boring. There is no challenge of different tracks!

I also witnessed several problems with the programming of the game. There are glitches that make the sound stop working, glitches that make words stay on the screen long after they should have disappeared, and glitches that make cars freeze (and I’m not talking about using the ice power-up).

However, most disappointing to me was the fact that it is IMPOSSIBLE to fully beat the game.

For each race, you are rated from 0 to 5 points. The game is truly beaten when all 5 points have been scored for each race. However, for one of the races, it is impossible to get all five.

On each level there is a final ‘tournament’ race, where you go through four different tracks. On one particular level, one of the requirements to get all five points is to go through each of the shortcut areas. However, there IS NO shortcut area in one of the tracks!

This surprised me. I thought that surely the programmers wouldn’t have overlooked such a big detail, and that i simply couldn’t find it. But after searching the track thoroughly, and looking for answers on the internet, I have accepted that there is, in fact, no shortcut area.

Honestly, for a $15 Nintendo DS game, you’re probably getting your money’s worth.

5 Stars Racing Fun
I love to play this game. It is really fun and exciting to open new courses. You should buy it.

5 Stars Much better than I expected
Hot Wheels Beat That has 30 unique unlockable cars. You will need to use a combination of precision driving skills and competitive weaponry as you race your competition through life-size environments in your effort to claim 1st place. Some of the weapons that are available are mines, rockets, freeze beam and turbo boost. As you progress through the game you move to different tracks that are in different areas of the house. My Son really likes this game and I have played it several times myself and thought it was one of the best games that I have seen for the Nintendo DS so far.

3 Stars Hard for 6-year-old
My son LOVES hotwheels so I thought he would enjoy this game. He liked it, but he got frustrated playing it and needed my help quite a bit. I think it would be good for someone a little bit older or more experienced in DS games than 6 years old.

4 Stars Four year old enjoys it.
My four and a half year old likes the game. Is not the best at handling the car in the game, but he likes it anyway.

5 Stars Another Must have Ps3 Title
If you like shooters, war games, violence, guns, blood etc then this is a must have. It has lots of fun missions to complete and finish. The gameplay is alotta fun there’s lot of cool weapons you get to use. I picked this up at a local retailer for around $29.99 . I feel its a good game for the price you have alot to do on this game. If you like this sorta game as much as I do I recommend giving this one a try. They have it for the xbox 360 as well which ever system you chose it for its a very fun and enjoyable game. Very good for stress management as you get to blow stuff up on it . You can even drive around in cool vehicles in some missions, Vehicles such as tanks, jeeps etc. I seen it advertised on G4tv long time ago and heard good reviews bout it figured I’d give it a try as well and it lives up to its reputation as a great game.

5 Stars best
Mercenaries 2 is the bomb; lots better then the fisrt and I personally like it better then GTA4 and Fallout 3 which are all open-world games, i totally recomend it to gamersd who are not really fond of open-world games but still want to try one out

2 Stars Glitches, Glitches, Everywhere
Mercenaries 2 is the poster child for a flawed gem. Whether or not you can tolerate the flaws will dramatically impact your view of the game. That’s part of the reason why review scores for Mercs 2 are all over the spectrum.

The premise of Mercs 2 is relatively simple; this game isn’t about story per se but does feature a somewhat entertaining if not clich?d storyline. You’ll start by picking one of 3 available Mercenaries hired to rescue a certain General by a rich Venezuelan. Shortly thereafter you’re betrayed by your employer and promptly shot in the butt. Thus begins your quest for revenge and the basic premise for Mercenaries 2.

Situated in Venezuela the environments are varied; everything from cityscapes of Caracas and Maracaibo to the jungled mountains of the Amazons. The bonus of all the nice scenery is that much of it is completely destructible. And that ability to wantonly destroy your surrounds is what ultimately Mercs 2 is all about. Graphics are largely improved from Mercenaries original outing. Though the graphics in Mercs 2 pale in comparison to other graphical powerhouses of the current console generation. Make no mistake though, the scale and destruction in Mercs 2 will impress all but the most biased graphics connoisseurs.

Mercenaries biggest detraction is it’s apparent complete lack of beta testing. The game as is has been patched and is still so utterly full of bugs and glitches that it becomes difficult to play at times. Glitches vary from the funny: randomly floating objects and enemies; to the weird: enemies will stop shooting at you while you can still shot them; the the frustrating: game freezing and objectives becoming unattainable.

It’s difficult to convey just how many and how frequent glitches can and do occur. I’ll give a rundown of some of the glitches I’ve encountered:

- High Value Target fell through the map and was inside a building he shouldn’t have been able to enter. Required restart of mission.

- Helicopter frequently gets stuck or lost preventing the collection of items. Requires patience.

- High Value Targets kill themselves frequently. Requires restart of mission if playing for the ‘Aces High’ Trophy.

- The in-game physics will cause you to lose challenges frequently because you’ll either crash or loose the payload of your vehicle.

- Enemies stop attacking you. Can be viewed as a bonus as this makes the game extremely easy.

To further add insult is the frustrating design choices by the developer. Failing a mission or failing to collect a High Value Target alive requires you to either quit the game completely and reload you last save file. Or in the case of certain missions, you’ll be MedEvac’d to your base only to lose all of your weapons and have to trudge halfway across the map back to the point where you were killed. The ability to instantly restart a mission or a load data function would’ve been nice.

Another problem with the game is the yo-yo’ing difficulty. Enemies will at one moment be completely brain dead, virtually running into your bullets and then next they’ll be using RPG’s as sniper rifles from 1200 yards away.

All in all what saved this game for me was the fact that it’s undeniably fun. The premise of wrecking havoc in the air, on land and sea across a huge varied landscape is still appealing. Unfortunately the lack of polish is ultimately what keeps this game from being great.

4 Stars Great game
This game is alot of fun, everything you can reach can be stolen and everything you see can be destroyed. I gave it 5 stars on the overall even though the controls are a little hard to get used to, and the views can be better. I havent experienced any glitches or problems with the game play.

5 Stars Merc’s 2 review
If you liked Merc’s 1 then you’ll love Merc’s 2. If you’ve never played Merc’s 1 you’ll still love Merc’s 2. Nuff said!
