Mirrors Edge

In this seemingly utopian paradise, a crime has been committed and now you are being hunted. You are a Runner called Faith - and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story. Mirror’s Edge delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith’s world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous. Live or die? Soar or plummet? One thing is certain, in this city, you will learn how to run.

2 Stars Best game ever…but it will make you throw your controller at your TV.
Mirror’s Edge had the potential to be a great game, but it is flawed and I highly doubt there will be enough support behind the idea of a possible sequel. The presentation, the artwork, the ambient soundrack…almost everything about the game is beautiful until you actually start to play through it. It really is sad when productions are rushed and level designers and animators cut corners on projects like Mirror’s Edge. The concept was incredible, but the reality is kind of a joke, and this game is truly testament to the fact that some software houses need to spend as much time developing the playability and the engine as they do on the presentation and the cut scenes. This is the kind of game that makes even HDTV owners want to impulsively throw their PS3 controllers at the screen, due to several situations that demand 30+ attempts at making the same jump over and over again. Save your money for other games, or just buy a William Gibson or Neal Stephenson book instead–it would be a much better value!

3 Stars Visually fantastic….game play eh
Visually, graphically, and auditorially, the game is awesome BUT…the game play itself disproves the definition of insanity. So many times you do the same thing over and over and over and finally it works?!? I love a challenging game but this one is unnecessarily just plain hard. I bought it for my gf because it was different than the same old first person shoot everything in your way type game but she gave up on it before she even finished the tutorial. Her deal not the game’s. Any way, if the controls were eased up just a tad bit I think this would be a run-away hit. I have read very similar reviews since buying it so I know I am not the only one who feels this way. Still for a game in the $30 range it is well worth it.

4 Stars Fun Game
My husband and I both take turns playing this game. It’s a lot of fun but frustrating at times when you can’t figure out where to go next. The game looks great, it looks so real a times. Great buy.

5 Stars Mirrors Edge Review
The game is awsome. Basically you defy gravity by jumping from building to building and running from the cops while trying to solve a murder your sister has been framed for. The interface is easy to learn and you get into the game play within a few minutes. The game is part action adventure and part puzzle solver although the puzzle solver part is maybe only 10% of the game. The puzzles are more of where and how to go to reach you objective rather than actual puzzles. I would recommend the game to anyone looking for a crazy twist on a first person shooter, minus the gun. Wild!

4 Stars Cool but tedious
The game is really cool looking and really fun to play, but it gets somewhat tedious by about… the 4th chapter. Honestly, you do the same thing you did in the earlier chapters but the jumps and leaps get progressively more difficult. I like the pace of the game and the stylistic approach. Definitely worth buying if you want nice visuals.

5 Stars Creapy Fun
This game is so creepy, and so fun. It has everything you look for in a game, some creatures actually scare the crap of you! It’s awesome and adventure is at every step, a must play.

5 Stars Not your typical game
This has become one of my all time favorite games. When I started playing I wasn’t so into it, but as the game progressed it grew on me. The creepy atmosphere and great story are engrossing. Visually, I thought the game was absolutely amazing. It’s pretty cheap, so if you own a 360 you’d be dumb not to try it.

5 Stars Bioshock is amazing
It isn’t everyday that a FPS feels new and exciting but Bioshock pulled it off and I enjoyed every second of the game. I generally can point out minor flaws in just about anything but I can’t think of one thing in Bioshock I didn’t like. Perfect 10.

5 Stars Good game!
I bought this game as a Xmas present for my husband. He totally love it!.

He finished the game like in 2 weeks.

5 Stars Best……….game…………ever (in my opinion)
One day, way back, I’m going through a Blockbuster store with a movie and a game in one hand, and the money in the other. The cashier then recommends about this game called Bioshock, and stupidly i asked’ “what is it.” He tells me the background of the game, then i ask’ “do u have a copy?” Luckily, he did, so he switched my game with Bioshock and let the M rating thing pass. As soon as i get home, i open the game case and pop in the game to my faithful 360, then the titles appear and i hit new game, but for some reason, i put the brightness all the way up, and after the part when u arrive on the sub, i had no idea where that splicer went. I was somewhat scared, but also fascinated in the interior of the city of rapture. Later on, I didn’t think of this game as scary, rather…..fun, really. I thought it was a good $8 rental and 5 days later i bought it, and I was, and still am searching the depths of rapture. Can’t wait for B2. :)

Trauma Center Under the Knife 2

Trauma Center Under the Knife 2

Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2 for Nintendo DS is a direct sequel to the 2005 smash hit. The fast-paced medical action that made the handheld original a classic is back, along with all of your favorite Trauma Center characters. Rejoin Derek and Angie as they deal with the unpredictable aftereffects of GUILT. With numerous enhancements, including new difficulty modes and new operations, handheld surgeons have a lot to be excited about.

4 Stars Fun Game!
This is a great game which is fun and easy to play. Only one negative thing is that the game has a lot of dialog that can only be sped-up and can’t be skipped.

2 Stars Magical surgery and Anime sexism
An odd mix of surgery, anime-style drama (lots of it, and it drags on) and odd magical interventions. Some surgeries require timely drawing of a pentagram on the surgical site for success - not sure which satan-worshiper (just kidding) decided that this is how surgery works, but it is a long way from reality. Another odd and disconcerting part is the relentless sexism and fawning big-eyed and big-breasted females - not sure what they are trying to teach here, but it is not surgery. Very odd that the nurses always know what needs to be done, yet are constantly fawning and deferential - maybe that is a Japanese/anime culture thing. Mixed in with the extended slow dialogue, it got very irritating.

Throw in the magical surgery, the bizarre idea that surgeons would somehow be fighting infectious diseases, and the quirky uses of antibiotics and special serum, and it does not work overall. Maybe if you really like anime style drama. Just not for me.

4 Stars Great fun if you like surgery and long storylines
I bought this game around a month ago and I have to say that it’s one of the best game related purchases I’ve ever made. My only problem with this game is that it has such a long build up before each surgery that you’re almost asleep before the action even starts. The gameplay rocks but as you probably are guessing this game is in no way an accurate simulation of real surgery by any means. So, if you love to cut people open but don’t have an M.D. and you don’t mind boring buildup the this is most definitely the game for you.

4 Stars Like the Wii version
I purchased this game after playing the Wii version at a friend’s house. I like the Wii much better b/c you can play with a friend, but this one is great for single player fun. The story line is way too long and drawn out, but the operations are fun and challenging.

4 Stars “Stylus Trauma”
Trauma Center, this game is not for the faint of heart. During the beginning of the game you are literally operating on a patient. As the storyline continues the operations become harder. The storyline is very interesting and the levels of difficulty can make the game even harder. Be prepared to operate to save lives!

Pro’s:

-Dramatic/interesting storyline.

-Sound effects of footsteps, gunshots, ambulance and character’s reactions make this game more fun to read.

-fast-forward through text

-Can go back to any previous level and go straight to the operation.

-Lengthy amount of episodes keeps this game from being too “short”

-Use your stylus and your agility to keep under the clock!

-Viruses play like Atari

-Zap, stitch, drain, disinfect your way to victory.

Con’s

- Screen can be very sensitive to stylus input, especially when opening a patient. A line can be drawn exactly on the printed line and still count as being “off”.

-If you don’t work quickly enough the game is prone to overload itself with “GUILT” infections. Game over!

-If you loose one level you cannot advance until that level is completed.

-Levels can be unforgiving and become frustrating.

This game is fast-paced action. You must keep on your toes in order to succeed to the next level. The storyline is as dramatic as the surgeries. Recommend for anyone who wants to play a more “synthetic” surgery game but with action!

Gears of War 2

The gears of war continue to turn as Marcus Fenix and his squad of Cogs go back into action. Gears of War 2 continues the story of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad, locked in an increasingly desperate battle against the nightmarish Locust Horde for the survival of humanity. It is an epic saga of survival, loss, and retribution. Gears of War 2 raises the bar with the amazing technological advances of Unreal Engine 3, delivering a bigger, badder, and more intense experience.

Party system and skill-based online matchmaking - form a full or partial team with friends and continue together from match to match without the need to reform after each game. A skill-based online matchmaking system groups players of similar skill level together in competitive multiplayer matches

4 Stars best game but worst support for multiplayer
This game is the best TPS game,i buy the xbox360 because this game, but the support for multiplayer is the worst one i have seen.Very very very lag everyday!!!!!!

4 Stars Gears overview
Now, Gears of War 2 has one of the most intense, and absolutely amazing Campaigns of games to date. In Gears 1 you met Anthony Carmine who was killed by a bad turn of events (a little tragedy for those who played gears one) and now in Gears 2, you meet Benjamin Carmine (the Rookie, and Anthony’s brother) You play as marcus and train him, ooh getting off subject with spoilers, heh. I loved the campaign, you can play this over and over again without boredom. The Multiplayer, however is trash. The game modes are fun, but the Lag is absolutely unbearable! it can take up to 7 seconds for your bullets to hit the wall 5 feet in front of you! I wouldn’t buy this game if your just going after multiplayer experience. I will be selling this game soon, but overall i give this game a 3/5 for multiplayer, 5/5 for story, and 5/5 for equipment options.

4 Stars Great game but still has many bugs
Although I really enjoy playing the game, xbox live can be frustrating to play on. If you are not the host you may be dealing with a lot of lag and then game play is horrible. You are penalized for leaving this game early and for this reason you must stick it out. Sometimes praying for the end of the game to come so you won’t have to endure another second. I blame this on xbox for using hosts that have terrible bandwidth and not being able to come up with a solution for lag switches. Even with all the bugs and problems with xbox I believe this to be one of my favorite multi player shooter games.

5 Stars Better than the orignal.
While GoW1 was good in it’s own way, it lacked length, level design, and some multi-player designs to stay appealing. GoW2 stepped it up to add story and length, while keeping quality play so it didn’t become boring. Level designs have improved since the original while staying true to the environment of GoW1. AI, with new creatures types, has also grown more to keep the challenges reasonable and fast paced. Like before, they’ve kept Co-Op and multi-player with system link and online. The best add on here to keep the game’s value high is survival mode. Grab some friends to let this game stay interesting and see how long you can last with good planning to stay alive! I recommended this for those 1st-person shooter people who love war and survival scenarios.

The only questionable parts of this game I didn’t like were the “shooting rails” where you are riding something on a designated path, but even that wasn’t bad overall and very few in amount. It does give you a chance to take in the scenery during in game sequences though on your ride between battle sections.

5 Stars gears of war 2
the game is great fun can’t stop playing the lots of lag in mullti player but if you got good Internet connection it’s not bad that’s the only problem

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great for the brain
I’m not one to like a bunch of action in a video game. No evil monsters for me. So I really like this game. I have to actually use my brain to learn new words. Nothing new to me…sometimes I read the dictionary. It starts out on lower levels so you feel very bright. But then the words get harder and the games more difficult.

If you love the English language, then you should enjoy this game.

5 Stars You’ll love Word Coach!
I bought Word Coach for myself (50+) to go along with Brain Age and other mind-stimulating games. I was happy to find that my 2 children can use the game to improve their English and Grammar skills. With over 10,000 words, each of the children uses it daily as part of their English homework. They have fun and their vocabulary is really expanding and it improves their spelling skills. One of my best game purchases!!!

3 Stars Good for exposure to new words but needs improvement
I am not as enthusiastic as some other reviewers. Yes, this game exposes me to words I am unfamiliar with. The farther along I get, the higher the difficulty level, the more games I unlock. Words I miss are put back in the queue and I eventually become familiar with the definitions.

Some of the games involve speed, rather than knowledge of the correct word. They may give the same amount of time to spell a long word as a short word, sometimes with not enough time even if I know the answer. The cereal game, for example, where a definition is given and we have to spell the correct answer from the letters floating in the bowl.

I am not sure of the purpose of the falling tiles game. We have to find the words in order to knock out the tiles, which stack higher and higher. We have to knock out the blocks so they don’t reach the ceiling. The only thing we learn in that game is recognition of words, but no definitions or anything; and again, it is mostly a game of speed.

Some of the games have the risk of motion injury, as I found playing the safe cracker game, where players twist their wrists back and forth and click to pick out the letters of the word that fit the definition given. My wrists and thumb were eventually very sore. In that game, I felt a standard game controller would be nice.

What I would really like is to hear a voice pronounce the word and see it used in a sentence. It would be nice to see some of the games involve placing the correct word in a sentence to show true mastery. In fact, I kept playing and playing hoping one of the new unlocked games would involve something like that. My hopes were not realized. I had unlocked everything and no sentences to be seen.

I do like the fact that words we miss are presented repeatedly until they are mastered. It doesn’t hurt to be exposed to all the definitions of new words. I would like them to take it a step further, because if I could hear the words in a sentence, it would help me use them correctly in my daily writing and speech.

1 Star A Great Learning Game for Kids
I tried the game and after several weeks of interaction I’ve decided that this is definitely a game for kids. Way too much slang, definitions are off on too many of the words, most of the words are not applicable in the U.S. and those that are one would have already learn them in grade school. The pace is also very slow. Once you have reached your peak in the game it basically stops you from going any further. I stopped at 98% and best time 22 seconds and that’s it, unless I can do less than the 22 seconds on each game it will not go any higher. So I reached my EP and learn a lot of British slang, yea!

3 Stars fun
this game is fun but it isn’t quite what i thought it would be..i thought i would be learning huge new words instead i have to mull through tons of easy words to get to harder ones..i really only like a few of the games it offers but it is enough to keep me playing..overall i really like this game and i;m sure after playing it long enough i will reach the large word vocabulary I am after!!
